Cookie policy

The short version: moyawe.com sets no cookies. This page says what the site does store on your device, why you are not being asked to accept anything, and what will change when that changes.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, usually so it can recognise you on your next visit. Related techniques — local storage, session storage, tracking pixels — do much the same thing, so this page covers those too.

What this site stores

One thing, and it is not a cookie: a session flag called moyawe:seen, kept in your browser’s session storage while the tab is open. It records nothing but the fact that you have already seen the opening animation, so the site does not replay it as you move between pages. It holds no identifier, it is never sent to our server or anyone else, and your browser drops it the moment you close the tab.

If your browser blocks storage entirely, the site still works — you simply see the opening animation again on each page.

What this site does not use

Why there is no cookie banner

Because there is nothing to consent to. European and Austrian rules require consent before a site stores or reads anything on your device that is not necessary for the service you asked for. We store nothing of that kind, and a banner asking permission for cookies we do not set would be theatre — and misleading. If we ever do need your consent, you will be asked plainly, refusing will be exactly as easy as agreeing, and nothing will load until you decide.

Our server’s own records

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, and the feedback form keeps a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address for a short time so the form cannot be flooded. Neither is stored on your device, so neither is a cookie — both are described in the privacy policy.

What changes at launch

Moyawe is being built as a reading and publishing platform, and some of that needs storage on your device:

Clearing what is stored

Every browser can clear site data and block storage per site: in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge it sits under Settings → Privacy. Nothing here needs to be cleared for your privacy — the session flag is gone as soon as the tab closes — but you are free to do so.
